A shooting at a home in unincorporated San Ramon left one person dead and another hospitalized Wednesday afternoon, according to the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded at approximately 1:05 p.m. to a “medical police” call on Bollinger Canyon Road in the unincorporated San Ramon area. When deputies arrived, they discovered a woman inside a home suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. She was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
A second resident was found inside the home with an apparent gunshot wound and was pronounced dead, authorities said. The identities of those involved were not immediately released in the initial reports.
Sheriff’s Office detectives and crime-lab personnel were investigating the scene as authorities worked to determine what led to the shooting and the circumstances surrounding the deaths.
Officials said there was no outstanding suspect and no known threat to the broader community following the incident.
The shooting occurred in an unincorporated portion of the San Ramon area rather than within the incorporated city limits. The investigation is being handled by the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office.
