The victim was identified as Jarlath Parkinson, 66, of Jackson, South Carolina, who was driving a big rig carrying equipment associated with the concert. According to the California Highway Patrol, Parkinson died at the scene following a crash on Interstate 5 in Yolo County.
The collision occurred between the Zamora and Dufour areas, northwest of Woodland. Authorities said the truck moved onto the right shoulder before the driver attempted to return to the freeway. The vehicle subsequently lost control and overturned.
No other vehicles were involved in the crash, according to investigators. Authorities also said they did not believe alcohol or drugs were factors in the collision.
Parkinson’s death prompted the immediate cancellation of J. Cole’s Sacramento performance, which had been scheduled as part of his “The Fall-Off” world tour.
