Authorities and family members are asking for the public’s assistance in locating Michael FitzGibbons, 68, who has been reported missing from Rocklin, California.
FitzGibbons was last seen at approximately 9:30 a.m. at 5857 Tree Swallow Lane, according to the missing-person information provided. He was later reported to have spoken with an employee at an AT&T location at 5498 Crossings Drive at around 11:30 a.m.
During that conversation, FitzGibbons reportedly told the employee that he intended to hitchhike to Danville. He was believed to be traveling on foot and reportedly did not have access to a working phone, credit cards or a vehicle.
Authorities and his family are particularly concerned because FitzGibbons has Alzheimer’s disease and may require assistance. His medical condition could make it difficult for him to navigate safely or communicate with people who may try to help him.
At the time he was last seen, FitzGibbons was reportedly wearing a gray quarter-zip sweatshirt and jeans.
The circumstances surrounding his disappearance remain under investigation. Authorities are asking anyone who may have seen FitzGibbons after his last known contact to provide information that could help establish where he went.
His case is identified as Case #26-250-6.
Because FitzGibbons may have been attempting to travel toward Danville, authorities and relatives are urging people in Rocklin and surrounding communities to remain alert, particularly along roads and transportation routes between the two areas.
