The Dunn community is mourning the tragic death of Brock Ty Stahl, a 25-year-old husband, father, United States Army veteran and recently graduated cybersecurity professional whose sudden passing has left his family, friends, church community and coworkers facing an immense loss.
Brock died Wednesday, August 26, 2026, at the age of 25. He was remembered by those closest to him as a devoted husband, loving father and hardworking family man who was determined to build a future for the people he loved.
Born September 23, 2000, in Orange County, North Carolina, Brock went on to serve in the United States Army after high school. His military service represented an important chapter in his young life and reflected the commitment to service that remained part of his story.
Following his military career, Brock continued working to support his family while pursuing his education. He worked at West Farms Wood Products in Newton Grove, North Carolina, while studying for a career in technology.
One of his most recent accomplishments was earning a degree in Cyber Security, an achievement he was particularly proud of. Completing his education while working and caring for his family demonstrated the determination he brought to building a better future.
Brock was also known for his mechanical ability and his willingness to work with his hands. Family members remembered him as someone who could fix almost anything, a talent that reflected his practical nature and ability to find solutions when something needed to be repaired.
But beyond his career, military service and technical skills, Brock’s greatest source of pride was his family.
He was married to Emma Rae Maples Stahl, his wife of five years. Together, they shared a young son, Beckett Allen Stahl, and were preparing to welcome another child, a daughter they planned to name Sadie.
The future the family had been preparing for has now been profoundly changed by Brock’s death. His wife and children are left to face the years ahead without the husband and father who had been central to their lives.
Brock is also survived by his parents, Tammy Nowell Moore and James Edwin Stahl II, along with their spouses, grandparents, siblings, in-laws, aunts, uncles, cousins and other extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Joseph Nowell, and his father-in-law, Joseph Allen “Joey” Maples.
Brock also maintained a connection with Central Baptist Church in Dunn, where he was part of a wider faith and community network. The church will serve as a gathering place for those wishing to remember him and support his family.
According to the published obituary, Brock’s death was described as tragic, but a specific cause or circumstance was not disclosed. Funeral arrangements have been announced through Rose & Graham Funeral Home. Family and friends will gather Sunday, August 30, 2026, at Central Baptist Church, located at 6050 Plain View Highway in Dunn.
Visitation is scheduled for 1:30 to 2:45 p.m. in the church’s Tabernacle, followed by a Celebration of Life service at 3 p.m. Burial will take place afterward at Roselawn Cemetery. Pastor Cameron Cloud and Rev. James Neal will officiate.
The services are expected to bring together relatives, friends, church members, coworkers and others whose lives were touched by Brock.
At only 25, Brock had already accomplished much and was looking toward a future that included his wife, his young son and the daughter he and Emma were preparing to welcome. His death has therefore created a loss that reaches across several generations of his family.
For those closest to him, Brock will be remembered not simply for the circumstances surrounding his death, but for the life he worked to build — as a soldier, husband, father, student, mechanic, employee and friend.
As the Stahl family prepares to say goodbye, they have expressed appreciation for the thoughts, prayers and support being offered during this heartbreaking time. For his loved ones, the memories of Brock and the life he shared with them will remain a lasting part of his legacy.
